Our on-site in vitro fertilization (IVF) embryology lab was fully renovated and commissioned in 2022.

5 years in the planning phase, we analyzed every minute of the journey of the egg, sperm and embryo outside of the body. With an individualized mindset and the latest embryology technology, our IVF laboratory director, Dr. Peter Uzelac, offers the most advanced setting for assisted reproduction currently available.

Are your embryos approached individually?

At MFC, we see our embryology lab as a place where individualized care continues and our lab staff as a group of artisans and advocates. Here are just a few differences between MFC’s individualized IVF laboratory and a standard “assembly line” IVF lab.

Laboratory lighting	Low energy cleanroom LED red light.	Standard full spectrum white light.	Some eggs, sperm and embryos have improved development in the lab when being exposed only to low energy light wavelengths. To create that extra edge, we are the first and only program in the U.S. to install low energy red lab lighting.
Sperm preparation	Microfluidic Chip (Dx Now, Zymot) and swim up methods.	Centrifugation for all.	Gentler sperm processing and selection of optimal prep method selects healthier sperm.
Fertilization	Fertilization method — ICSI or conventional — by your indications and history.	ICSI for all.	«Selecting ICSI (intracytoplasmic sperm injection) or standard IVF for your eggs optimizes outcomes.
Incubation	Timelapse incubator.	Conventional incubator.	Timelapse incubation allows for constant visual surveillance of embryo development to identify the optimal timing of lab interventions such as ICSI after transitional stage egg conversion, trophectoderm biopsy and vitrification.
Preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) platforms	Next-generation sequencing (NGS), polygenic risk scoring (PGT-P) and whole genome sequencing (WGS) options.	NGS only.	A variety of technologies to match your reproductive goals and priorities.
Staff	2 fulltime, onsite, supervisor-credentialled embryologists with an ownership stake in your case.	Technician of the day.	Invested embryology-lab staff means more personalized attention to your embryos.
