FAQ
Yes. Donating your eggs is safe and a relatively quick process. There are some minor risks, but with our medical providers supervising and closely monitoring the entire egg donation process from start to finish, you are in skilled, experienced hands throughout.
No. The stimulation medication and egg retrieval procedure do not negatively impact your own fertility. Your body contains a vast number of eggs that would naturally undergo atresia — this process simply utilizes some of those eggs before that occurs.
After the retrieval procedure, you may experience mild discomfort or cramping and are advised to rest for the remainder of that day. Most egg donors are able to resume normal activities within one to two days.
The total time commitment is approximately three weeks. Once accepted into the program, we wait for the start of your next menstrual cycle to begin medication — either naturally or timed using birth control for scheduling purposes. Follicle-stimulating hormones are then taken for approximately 7 to 15 days, followed by a trigger injection, and egg retrieval approximately 24 hours later.
That does not automatically disqualify you. Eligibility depends on the location of the previous agency or clinic, how many prior donations you completed, and other individual factors. We encourage you to apply and our team will review your history.
Your profile on our egg donor program page will include basic physical characteristics and short personal answers — such as hobbies, favorite things, and goals — to give prospective parents a sense of who you are. No personally identifying information is ever shared with intended parents.
For our egg bank, we do prefer current adult photographs so intended parents can better envision what their future child may look like. Photos do not need to be recent. If you are not comfortable providing recent images, photographs from an earlier age are also accepted.
No. Having previously given birth is not a requirement. Some intended parents prefer donors with a documented live birth, but that can also mean a prior donor’s eggs were used successfully by another family — not necessarily that the donor has her own children.
