FAQ

Is egg donation safe?

Yes, donating your eggs is safe, and also a relatively quick, process. There are some minor risks, but with our medical providers supervising and closely monitoring the process from start to finish, you will be in safe hands the entire time.

Will it affect my future fertility?

No. Stimulation medication and the retrieval process does not negatively impact your own fertility. Your body has an immense number of eggs that would naturally die off anyways – this process simply utilizes those.

What is the recovery like?

After the procedure, the donor may experience some mild discomfort or cramping and is usually advised to rest for the remainder of the day. Most donors can resume normal activities within a day or two.

What is the time commitmment?

Not that long! Once accepted into the program, we wait for the start of your next menstrual cycle to start medication. We can either wait for it to start naturally, or if it needs to be timed for certain scheduling reasons, birth control is used. Then, the follicle stimulating hormones are taken for anywhere between 7 tp 15 something days, followed by an “trigger” injection, and then about 24 hours later, the egg retrieval surgery. In total, you should be done in 3 or so weeks.

What if I have already donated with another agency?

That doesn’t necessarily mean you cannot donate with us! It depends on where that agency/clinic is located, how many times you donated with them, and other factors.

What will the recipient know about me?

The information we post on our egg donor website will include basic physical features, as well as some short answers so that the potential parent can get an idea of what kind of person you are, (ie, hobbies, favorite things, goals, etc.) No identifying personal information is ever given to the potential parents.

Must I show my adult photographs

For our egg bank, we do prefer that adult photographs are given to give the potential parents a better idea of what their future child may look like. The photos do not have to be current. However, if you are uncomfortable with showing photos of yourself from the past few years, we will still accept photographs of a younger version of yourself.

Must I have had a child previously in order to donate?

No, having a child is not a prerequisite in order to donate. If you have had a child, that iis fine as well. Some intended parents like to pick egg donors that have a proven live birth with their eggs, but that does not necessarily mean the donor has to have a child — if the donor was used already by another set of intended parents who had a live birth using their eggs, that statistic could be used.
