what is embryo transfer (ET)?

Embryo transfer is the final IVF step, placing a developed embryo into the uterus. After approximately 3-5 days of development in the laboratory, embryos are placed into the upper uterus using a small catheter (a thin straw-like device) passed through the cervix. This brief outpatient procedure needs no anesthesia.
